MSW31 Sawmill Hickory Copperhead 3/4 Solid Distressed Hardwood Floor - Call for BEST price

I have been searching high and low for the right floors and out of the many samples I have received, this sample is by far the most beautifully crafted piece of hardwood flooring and my favorite. The character is fantastic: the beveled edges, the chiseled ends, the hand-scraping, the distressing and the light saw marks... perfection. Everything I want in a floor. And the 5 inch width is perfect because I don't want anything trendy that will seem out of date in a few years. I am heartbroken that the heartwood takes the stain in such a dark manner. I am sure the lighter sapwood is perfect for my project. If I could buy just the sapwood, I would buy this in a heartbeat. The pricing is fabulous for the quality and even had me trying to convince my husband to buy twice as much flooring as we need just so we can use only the lighter sapwood pieces, but then the project would be too expensive and the question becomes what to do with all the dark pieces that we wouldn't be using. If it were not going into small rooms and if I wasn't trying to stay in the same color family as the hardwood floors I already have, this would be my first choice. I have been searching for the same quality and characteristics but another species that takes the stain more uniformly and not so dark, but no luck.
